East Pakenham is a railway station on the Pakenham line. The station is in the suburb of Pakenham, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The station opened in 2024. It was the time the close Pakenham station was rebuilt and three level crossings in the area were removed.[3] East Pakenham has four railway tracks so that V-line country trains can pass the station. By 2025, trains from East Pakenham started to travel through the Metro Tunnel, and the trains then connected to the Sunbury line.[4]

History

The Bairnsdale railway line opened at the current site on 8 October 1877. The line was extended from Pakenham station to Bunyip station.[5] Back then, there was no East Pakenham station.

East Pakenham station was announced to be built in February of 2021. Until mid-2023, the government called the not yet built station as Pakenham East railway station. On 3 June 2024, East Pakenham station opened to passengers at the same time as the new Pakenham station.[6][7]

Platforms and services

East Pakenham is a ground-level premium station. It is manned from the first to the last train. This is the final station of the Pakenham line. The station has one island platform with two sides of the platform.
