Parkdale is a train station controlled by Metro Trains Melbourne on the Frankston line. The line is a part of the Melbourne train network. It serves the suburb of Parkdale, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

History

The original Parkdale station opened on 1 September 1919.[2][3] In 2021, the Level Crossing Removal Project announced that the railway crossing at the station will be removed by 2025[4] by making the train line go over the road.[5] In May 2023, construction started around the area.[6]

On 22 October 2023, the old station was closed with train services running on a new alignment from 6 November with a shuttle bus running between Mentone and Mordialloc stations while Parkdale closed.[7][8]

On 14 July 2024, the level crossings were removed[9] and the new station opened in 2 August 2024.[10][11]

Platforms

Parkdale is a skyrail (above ground) station, which means that the train station is on a viaduct. Parkdale has two side platforms, where the platforms are on the outer edge of the track. The train station is uncrewed (there are no staff and Metro Train Employees there at any time).
