Yoshino Mikumari Shrine (吉野水分神社, Yoshino Mikumari-jinja) is a Shinto shrine on Mount Yoshino in Yoshino district, Nara, Japan.[1]
Deities of the shrine
The Shrine is dedicated to Mikumari-no-Kami, a goddess of water and childbirth. Yoshino Mikumari Shrine is one of four important mikumari shrines in the former Yamato Province. The shrine also worships six other kami that are related to Mikumari (Takami-musubi-no-kami, Sukunabikona, Mikogami, Ninigi, Tamayori-hime, and Takuhadachiji-hime). A wooden statue of the deity Tamayori-hime is an official National Treasure of Japan.
