Background
As is the case every year since the event's beginning, the event featured the 30-man over-the-top-rope battle royal, also known as the Royal Rumble match. The match started with two wrestlers and a new one was added every 90 seconds. To eliminate an opposing wrestler he must be thrown over the top rope and have both his two feet hit the floor, this continued until there was only one man left, who was named the winner. The winner received a match for the WWF Championship at WrestleMania XIV. The match was won by Stone Cold Steve Austin, who became the third man to win it two years in a row. The main event saw Shawn Michaels defend his WWF Championship against The Undertaker in a Casket match.

- 1 2 3 Mick Foley is the only competitor to enter the same Royal Rumble match 3 times under different personas.[5]
- ↑ Triple H and Chyna were not entrants in the match. They arrived in the arena during Honky Tonk Man's entry and worked together to eliminate Hart, who then ran after both of them to the backstage area.
- ↑ Hart was unable to compete in the Rumble for a while as he was beaten up by Jeff Jarrett on the way to the ring. He joined in the Rumble later on after Jarrett entered, eliminating him as a revenge.
- ↑ Skull never made it to the ring; he was attacked by Los Boricuas before the match when they thought he was Stone Cold Steve Austin.
