Countdown to Ecstasy is the second studio album by Steely Dan. Steely Dan was an American rock band. ABC Records released the album on July 7, 1973. Donald Fagen sang for every song on the album. This is different from the band's first album, Can't Buy a Thrill (1972), because the band's singer, David Palmer, left the band.

Many music critics liked the album, but it did not do as well on music charts as other Steely Dan albums. Countdown to Ecstasy was number 35 on the Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) gave it a gold certification in 1978.[5]
