Broomfield is a suburb on the western side of Christchurch. It was named for an estate by Rev. James Wilson (1813-1886), which he named it after a place near Leith in Scotland. Most of the housing built since 2010. State Highway 1 runs through the suburb and State Highway 73 runs through the northwestern side.
