Plot
The First Face-Off
After the Mighty Ducks win an stunning game of hockey, Anaheim Police Department head commissioner Captain Klegghorn arrives at the Anaheim Pond to question their manager Phil Palmfeather about the team's origins. Palmfeather explains that the anthropomorphic ducks came from Puckword, an icy planet perfectly suitable to their favorite pastime and entirely populated by humanoid ducks in another universe. For its inhabitants, hocky wasn't simply a sport, but a way of life, occupying virtually every aspect of day-to-day existence, from fashion to philosophy.
According to legend, a duck named Drake DuCaine became Puckworld's savior over a race of reptilian humanoids called the Saurians centuries ago during an invasion by the Saurians' Overlords with a seemingly normal goalie mask that transforms into a high-tech mask which gave him the ability to see through the Saurians' cloaking technology. With the mask as an game changer for him and his people, DuCaine exiled the Saurians to an mysterious dimension known only as the "Dimensional Limbo".
As it turns out, history begins to repeat itself when the last of the Saurians escape from the Dimensional Limbo and return to invade Puckworld with an armada of robotic attack ships. The group of four is led by the last of the Saurian Overlords, Lord Dragaunus, who is assisted by his minions, the burly Siege, the shapeshifting Chameleon and the mystic Wraith. They raze the planet and enslave the people of Puckworld in an intend to produce more weapons to conquer the universe. After some time, a resistance band of ducks is formed by Canard Thunderbeak, who found the Mask of Drake DuCaine in a tomb in the mountains called Twin Beaks, to fight Dragaunus. With it, the Mask's wearer could see the Saurians' invisibility cloaks. The members of his team consist of Wildwing Flashblade, Nosedive Flashblade, Tanya Vanderflock, Duke L'Orange, Mallory McMallard and Grin Hardwing. They set out on a mission to infiltrate Draganus's fortress, the Master Tower, and destroy it in order to free the planet from the Saurians' control. Despite some setbacks, the mission is successful, but Dragaunus and his forces manage to escape in their ship, the Raptor, by opening the portal in an attempt to escape through it. Intending on stopping the Saurians, Canard and the others follow him into the portal with the Aerowing. Dragaunus releases a gigantic electromagnetic worm inside the portal to grow until it can swallow the Aerowing in an attempt to get rid of the Ducks. In a desperate attempt to get rid of the worm, Canard sacrifices himself by throwing himself to the worm. Before doing so, however, Canard gives the Mask, and leadership of the team, to Wildwing. Both the Raptor and the Aerowing leave the portal and enter into a different dimension, landing in the Earth city of Anaheim, California.
The Ducks meet Phil Palmfeather, a human and the former manager of the moved team who allows them to play in a game but warns they'll have to share with the Destroyers, a team of meanest players who call the Pond home turf. They manage to beat the Destroyers' physical prowess and cheating by showing off pure skill, which impresses Palmfeather who makes them a legitimate NHL team. This makes the Ducks an immediate hockey sensation, earning the money to construct a three-tiered formal headquarters beneath the arena and equip it with everything they need to hunt down Dragaunus. They patrol around Anaheim and decide to fight crime along the way. However, Wildwing refuses to don the Mask and assume his new leadership. Accompanied by Palmfeather, the Ducks track down Dragaunus at the mountains, but Dragaunus sends them scrambling for cover in the Aerowing. They decide to ambush the Saurians by invading the Raptor where Wildwing, Nosedive, Duke and Tanya fend off with Siege, Chameleon and Wraith while Grim and Tanya destroy the Raptor's power source. Dragaunus shows up to turn the fight around by ordering Siege, Chameleon and Wraith to destroy Anaheim and overpowering Nosedive, Duke and Tanya while quickly getting a upper hand on Wildwing personally and boasting about Conard's absence. This unintentionally prompts Wildwing to fulfill his destiny and turn the tables on Dragaunus. The Ducks quickly escape aboard the Aerowing while the Raptor, having switched to impulse power, suddenly vanishes into Anaheim from underneath their noses. The Ducks acknowledge Wildwing as their new leader, and vow to find Dragaunus again.
In the present, Captain Klegghorn refuses to believe every detail of Palmfeather's story and is skeptical of the Saurians' existence, unaware that Dragaunus is hiding in his crippled ship and brooding for revenge on the Ducks for his defeat.
