Mayhem (Lady Gaga album)

Mayhem is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter and record producer Lady Gaga. It was released on March 7, 2025, by Streamline and Interscope Records. This marks the longest gap between album releases in Gaga’s entire career, and precedes Chromatica (2020), which was released over four years earlier. Leading up to its release, the album was temporarily referred to as LG7.^[1] Gaga collaborated with producers Watt, Cirkut, and Gesaffelstein. Her fiancé, Michael Polansky, contributed as a co-writer on several tracks.

The ballad "Die with a Smile" with Bruno Mars was initially planned as a standalone single but was later included on the album. It became Gaga's sixth US number-one hit and won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards, her 14th career Grammy win.

The first single "Disease" reached the top ten in the UK and top thirty in the US and Canada.^[2] The second single, "Abracadabra", was released on a commercial break during Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025. It reached the top five in the UK and Germany and the top twenty in the US, Australia, and Canada.^[3] "The Dead Dance" was the third single and was released on September 3, 2025 on the digital reissue of the album.

The first few seconds of "Shadow of a Man" were used as the outro for the 2024 HBO Max concert documentary, Gaga: Chromatica Ball. "Garden of Eden" was used as the theme for the 2025 Formula 1 season by ESPN.^[4]

The album has a score of 84/100 on Metacritic, meaning "universal acclaim". Many reviewers pointed out the influences of Gaga's early albums on Mayhem.^[5][6] It entered at number one on the album charts in several countries, including her native US, where it sold 219,000 copies in its first week and had the highest weeklong sales of the year by a female artist at the time. It became her seventh US number-one album.^[7] It was nominated at the 2026 Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Additionally, "Abracadabra" was nominated for Song and Record of the Year and Best Dance Pop Recording, while "Disease" was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance.

The album was ranked second on Billboard's Top Dance Albums year-end chart for 2025.

The Mayhem Ball Tour is Gaga's eighth headlining world tour. It began on July 16, 2025, in Las Vegas, and is set to conclude on April 13, 2026, in New York. Gaga has stated that the concept of the tour requires the use of arenas, as opposed to stadiums, which were used for her 2022 Chromatica Ball Tour. On September 9, 2025, Gaga announced a second North American leg for February through April 2026.^[43]

Mayhem Requiem was a one-off special that Gaga performed at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on January 14, 2026.^[46] It featured only Mayhem tracks, and the live album was released May 15, 2026, for Apple Music. It features different arrangements of the songs, such as an electronic rock version of "Die with a Smile" and a slow piano introduction for "Abracadabra".
