Keshinro Ololade (born 17 March 1995), known as Lil Kesh, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter. He became known after releasing the song "Shoki" in 2014.[1]
Early life
Lil Kesh was born and grew up in Bariga, an area in Lagos State, Nigeria. He went to Stockbridge College for school. He later studied Linguistics at the University of Lagos. He also studied Mass Communication online at the National Open University.[2]
Career
Lil Kesh began rapping with friends in Bariga in 2012. On 2 January 2014, he released his first song, "Lyrically", which became popular in Nigerian universities. Another rapper, Viktoh, heard the song and played it for Olamide. Olamide signed Lil Kesh to his record label, YBNL.[3]
While at YBNL, Lil Kesh released several popular songs, including "Shoki", "Efejoku", and "Gbese". "Shoki" reached the top of several music charts and helped make him well known.
In March 2016, Lil Kesh released his first album, Y.A.G.I. (Young And Getting It), through YBNL Nation. The album included guest singers such as Phyno, Ycee, Wale, Patoranking, Adekunle Gold, Davido, Viktoh, Olamide, and Chinko Ekun.
Later in 2016, Lil Kesh's contract with YBNL ended. He then started his own record label, YAGI Records.
Music style
Lil Kesh's music has been compared to Olamide's, because both rap and sing in the Yoruba language.[4] Some critics have said that his songs contain offensive language.[5]
