Lajos Sătmăreanu (Hungarian: Szatmári Lajos, 21 February 1944 – 30 June 2025), also known as Ludovic Sătmăreanu, was a Romanian footballer and manager. As a footballer, he played as a right-back for teams in Romania, and spent 10 years at Steaua București,[1] where he won a Divizia A and five Cupa României titles. In 1970, West German club Hertha BSC wanted to sign Sătmăreanu, after his performance at the 1970 FIFA World Cup, but Romania's communist regime refused to let him go.[4]

Sătmăreanu was capped 42 times for Romania, and played for them at the 1970 FIFA World Cup.[3] He made his debut in a 1–1 friendly draw against Uruguay in Montevideo.[3][5]

After retiring from football, he became a manager. He mainly worked as a youth manager for Steaua București between 1977 and 2011.[6][7] He also worked as a youth manager at CSA Steaua București between 2016 and 2022.[6][4][8]

Sătmăreanu died on 30 June 2025, at the age of 81.[8][9]
