Diogo José Teixeira da Silva (4 December 1996 – 3 July 2025), commonly known as Diogo Jota, was a Portuguese footballer. He played as a winger for Premier League team Liverpool.

Jota was 28 years old when he and his brother, André Silva, were killed in a car crash in Cernadilla, Spain, on 3 July 2025.[3][4] Their funeral took place in Gondomar on 5 July 2025. Many people from the world of football attended, including Andrew Robertson and Virgil van Dijk, who carried floral tributes into the church.[5] A book of condolences was opened for others to write private messages which would go to the family.
