Damián Josué Bobadilla Benítez (born 11 July 2001) is a Paraguayan professional footballer. He plays as a midfielder for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club São Paulo and the Paraguay national team.
Bobadilla started his career in the youth system of Cerro Porteño. He made his professional debut for Cerro Porteño on 5 May 2021, in a Copa Libertadores match against Atlético Mineiro.[2][3] On 20 December 2023, he joined Série A club São Paulo,[4] for a reported transfer fee of around $3 million for 60% of the player's economic rights.[5]
Bobadilla made his debut for the Paraguay national team on 11 June 2024, when he came on as a substitute for Andrés Cubas in a 3–0 friendly loss against Chile.[6]
He was part of Paraguay's team at the 2024 Copa América. However, he did not play for Paraguay at the 2024 Summer Olympics, because he did not want to miss matches for São Paulo in the 2024 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A.[7]
Personal life
Damián is son of the former Paraguayan international goalkeeper Aldo Bobadilla.[8]
