The BYD D1 is a compact MPV made by BYD since 2020. In 2018 Didi a Chinese private transport company formed an alliance with brands like BYD, Volkswagen, and BAIC Group, to make purpose-bulit intelligent vehicles for ride-hailing and fleet management.[1] the D1 is the first purpose-bulit model Didi has revealed.[2]
In August 2020, BYD received the approval of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, to make a electric vehicle co-developed witi Didi.[3] The BYD D1 was then launched in November 2020, its name means "always day 1".[4]
It isn't available for normal buyers, since it is sold only for transport companies like Didi and is made mainly for ride-hailing. Though in April 2022 Vemo a Mexican company, ordered 1.000 D1s.[5]
