Dynasty (2024) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view show made by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). It took place April 21, 2024 at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. It was the first Dynasty event held by AEW.
The main event saw Swerve Strickland defeat Samoa Joe to become the new AEW World Champion. Swerve hit Joe with a sunset flip powerbomb and then the Swerve Stomp for the pinfall victory. By winning the championship, Swerve became the first African-American world champion in AEW history.[1]
Other matches included Willow Nightingale defeating Julia Hart to win the AEW TBS Championship. The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) defeated FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) in a tournament final ladder match to win the vacant AEW World Tag Team Championships. Chris Jericho defeated Hook in a FTW Rules match to win the FTW Championship.
Another notable match was the match between Will Ospreay and Bryan Danielson. Ospreay defeated Danielson after hitting him with the Tiger Driver '91 and two Hidden Blade for the pinfall victory. The match was very well received by critics and fans. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter awarded the match six and a half stars, the second-highest ranked match he's given.[2]
Jack Perry also made his return to AEW at the event after his legit backstage incident with the now-fired CM Punk.[3]
