Wurundjeri

The Wurundjeri are one of over 30 Indigenous Australian peoples from Victoria, Australia. They live in the Yarra Valley area that now includes the city of Melbourne. The word Wurundjeri is made from two words from their Woiwurrung language. Wurun means Manna Gum (Eucalyptus viminalis) and djeri, is the witchetty grub that lives on or near the tree. The Wurundjeri are the "Witchetty Grub" or "Manna Gum" people.[1] There were many clans who spoke the Woiwurrung language, and these are collectively known as the Wurundjeri.
