Western Area

Location of the Western Area in Sierra Leone

The Western Area is one of the five administrative regions of Sierra Leone. It comprises the national capital Freetown and its surrounding suburbs. Its area is 696km² and 1,271,330 people lived here in 2021. The Western Area is not a province.

It is divided into two districts:

  • Western Area Rural District
  • Western Area Urban District
