Traffic were an English rock band. Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood and Dave Mason made the band. They made it in Birmingham in 1967. Traffic was a psychedelic rock and progressive rock band.

The band's first album is Mr. Fantasy (1967). It was popular in the United Kingdom and was on the UK Albums Chart.[3] They made many singles, such as "Paper Sun", "Hole in My Shoe", and "Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush". Their most popular album in the UK is named Traffic. Many music artists made cover versions of the song "Feelin' Alright?", such as Joe Cocker, The Jackson 5, and Grand Funk Railroad. The band ended in 1969, then got back together in 1970.

After coming back together, the band made John Barleycorn Must Die. It was number 5 on the US Billboard 200 music chart.[4] It was their most popular album in the United States. Their next album, The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys (1971), was even more popular in the US. The band made two other albums that were popular in the US: Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory (1973) and When the Eagle Flies (1974).[4] The band ended again in 1976.

After the band ended, Winwood made music by himself. He made many albums, and some of his songs were popular in the UK. Capaldi also made music. In 1994, Winwood and Capaldi worked together to make an album and play music at concerts. In 2004, Traffic joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.[5] As of 2026, Winwood is the only living person who made the band.
