Submitters

Submitters are followers of the Egyptian-American biochemist Rashad Khalifa (d. 1990) who established United Submitters International (USI) in Tucson, Arizona. Submitters reject hadith and believe in the "Qur'an alone" plus the specific mathematical code (19), which Khalifa popularised, whom they consider a "Messenger of the Covenant". Submitters do not consider themselves to be Quranists, as the two are fundamentally different in their core beliefs, specifically regarding the status of Khalifa and the understanding of certain practices.[1][2] Quranists have accused Khalifa of "extremism in lying and extremism in disbelief".[3]

Edip Yuksel, once a prominent member of the Submitters[4]

The USI founded by Khalifa has published a monthly newsletter with the title "Submitter's Perspective" since 1985.[5] Among those influenced by Khalifa's ideas include Edip Yüksel,[6] Ahmad Rashad,[7] and Nigerian High Court Judge, Isa Othman.[8]
