South Yemen
South Yemen was a country that existed between 1967 and 1990. In 1990, the country merged with the Yemen Arab Republic, to form the modern-day country called Yemen. The Yemen Arab Republic was often called North Yemen. Note that the name may be confusing: South Yemen was much bigger than North Yemen. Parts of South Yemen, such as Hadhramaut Governorate are father north than North Yemen.
