Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom is an upcoming stop-motion animated fantasy comedy film produced by Aardman Animations. It is the third feature movie in the Shaun the Sheep franchise, following Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015) and A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (2019). The movie is scheduled for release on 18 September 2026 by GKIDS in the United States and in the United Kingdom by Sky Cinema and StudioCanal.
Premise
As Halloween approaches at Mossy Bottom Farm, disaster strikes when the clumsy Farmer destroys the flock’s prized pumpkin patch. Determined to fix the problem, Shaun turns into a "mad scientist", but his antics spiral out of control. With the Farmer missing and a mysterious beast roaming the woods of Mossingham, Shaun and the flock must save the day in a spooky family adventure.
Production
The movie was officially announced on 7 May 2025 by Aardman Animations and Netflix. It is written by Mark Burton and Giles Pilbrow, directed by Steve Cox and Matthew Walker, and produced by Richard Beek, Peter Lord, and David Sproxton. Studio executive producers include Nick Park, Carla Shelley, and Sarah Cox.
GKIDS will distribute the movie in the United States, releasing it in cinemas.[1]
Background
The announcement follows the success of Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (2024), which broke U.K. broadcast records and won two BAFTAs, alongside an Oscar nomination. The Beast of Mossy Bottom continues Aardman’s long-standing collaboration with StudioCanal, which previously co-produced Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015), Farmageddon (2019), and Early Man (2018).
Release
Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom is scheduled to premiere in the United States on 16 October 2026, with GKIDS picking up the film for its theatrical and home media release, the first American release in such formats for an Aardman film since Early Man in 2018, as their following releases were distributed straight-to-streaming through Netflix.
