The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) is Scotland’s national group for science and letters. It is a registered charity that works independently and does not support any political party. It helps people across Scotland. The society started in 1783. By 2021, it had about 1,800 members called Fellows.[1]

The RSE covers more subjects than the Royal Society of London, including literature and history. Its members come from many areas like science, technology, arts, humanities, medicine, social science, business, and public service.
