The Rotherham Advertiser is a weekly newspaper for the town of Rotherham in South Yorkshire. It was first published in 1858, making it one of the oldest newspapers in the area.[1] The newspaper reports local news, sport, events and community stories.

History

The Advertiser was created in the 19th century to give local people news about the town and nearby villages.[2] Over time it grew to become the main weekly newspaper for Rotherham. It is published in tabloid format.

For many years the paper was part of Garnett Dickinson Publishing. Today it is owned by Regional Media Ltd.[3]

Content

The newspaper includes local news, opinion columns, letters, sport and reports from Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. It also covers schools, charity events and community groups.[4]

The Advertiser runs an online news service through its website, which is updated throughout the week.
