Ron Popeil

Ronald Martin Popeil (May 3, 1935 – July 28, 2021) was an American inventor and marketing personality. He founded the direct response marketing company Ronco.

Popeil was born to a Jewish family in Manhattan, New York City, in 1935. He became widely known through infomercial appearances promoting products such as the Showtime Rotisserie and coined the famous catchphrase “Set it, and forget it!” He also popularized the phrase “But wait, there’s more!” on television as early as the 1950s.

He died on July 28, 2021, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles at the age of 86.
