Retard (word)

Retard is considered a hurtful word for people with disabilities. Initially a medical term, since the 70s, it is mostly used as either a mean word towards disabled people or for someone foolish.[1] If they were referring to a retard, they would call the person retarded. People often use this word in a joking manner, practically calling their friend (or whomever) stupid.
