Pritam Singh (born July 2, 1976) is a Singaporean politician, lawyer and writer. He served as the secretary-general of the Workers' Party (WP) since 2018 and the leader of the opposition from 2020 to 2026. He is the Member of Parliament for Aljunied Group Representation Constituency for Eunos since 2011. In 2020, his party became the largest opposition party in Parliament. After this, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officially appointed him as Leader of the Opposition.[4][1]

In February 2025, Singh was convicted in a Singapore court on two counts of lying to Parliament’s Committee of Privileges, with the court finding that he had made multiple untrue statements to different parties, including Parliament and the committee itself, during the inquiry into how he handled a false statement made by former Workers’ Party MP Raeesah Khan in 2021. He was fined S$7,000 for each charge, amounting to S$14,000. While the sentence did not meet the constitutional threshold for disqualification from Parliament, Singh’s appeal was dismissed by the High Court in December 2025, which upheld the findings that he had knowingly provided false accounts. The conviction subsequently led to parliamentary scrutiny over his fitness to continue as Leader of the Opposition, and he was removed from that role in January 2026.[5]
