Poon Hiu-wing
Poon Hiu-wing was a young woman who died on 17 February 2018. Her boyfriend Chan Tong-kai, after being arrested by the Hong Kong Police Force, admitted that he killed her in a hotel room in Taipei.[1][2] Both Ms Poon and Mr Chan are Hong Kongers. The Government of Hong Kong did not charge Mr Chan with murder as the event did not happen in Hong Kong.[3] Mr Chan wrote a letter in October 2019 which says that he had "decided to surrender himself to Taiwan".[4] As of October 2025, Mr Chan has not yet gone to Taiwan.[5]
