The Santa Catharina dwarf frog (Physalaemus nanus) is a frog. It lives in Brazil.[1][2][3]
Home
This frog lives forests and can live in places that human beings have changed. Scientists have seen it between 0 and 1,200 m (0 and 3,937 ft) above sea level.[3]
Scientists have seen the frog in protected places, for example Área de Proteção Ambiental do Alto Rio Turvo, Área de Proteção Ambiental São Francisco de Assis, Área de Relevante Interesse Ecológico Serra da Abelha, Parque Estadual Serra Furada, Parque Estadual Tabuleiro, Parque Municipal Morro do Céu, Parque Nacional da Serra do Itajaí, Parque Nacional da Serra Geral, Parque Nacional de Saint-Hilaire-Lange, Parque Nacional dos Campos Gerais, Reserva Biológica do Aguai, Refúgio da Vida Silvestre dos Campos de Palmas, and RPPN Chacara Edith.[3]
Young
The frog puts its eggs in small bodies of water that dryup, for example puddles and ditches. The adult frog makes a nest out of bubbles for the egs and puts it under roots, leaves, or branches near the edge of the water. The young hatch out of eggs as tadpoles, not small froglets.[3]
Danger
Scientists from the IUCN say this frog is not in danger of dying out. In some parts of the frog's home, human beings change the places where the frog lives to make farms and places for cows to eat grass. People set fires to do this.[3]
