North West Province, Sierra Leone

Location of the North West Province in Sierra Leone

The North West Province, also known as North Western Province, is one of the five administrative regions of Sierra Leone. The province has 34 chiefdoms and 1,186,050 people lived here in 2021. The capital is Port Loko. Its area is 13,520 km².

History

The province was created in 2017 as a split from the Northern Province.

Districts

The province has three districts:

  • Kambia District
  • Karene District
  • Port Loko District
