The Las Vegas Aviators are a Minor League Baseball team from Summerlin, Nevada.[2] They play baseball at the Triple-A (AAA) level, the most difficult level before Major League Baseball, against other baseball teams in the Pacific Coast League (a group of 10 baseball teams at the same level).[2] The Aviators are partnered with the Athletics, a Major League Baseball team. When a player shows that he plays well at this level, he may be moved up to play for the Athletics.
The team started playing baseball in 1983 as the Las Vegas Stars. The team changed their name to the Las Vegas 51s in 2001. They became the Las Vegas Aviators in 2019 in reference to aviation pioneer Howard Hughes.
The Aviators have played at a stadium called Las Vegas Ballpark since 2019. Before that, they played at Cashman Field from 1983 to 2018.
