Konda Gobyo-yama Kofun

Konda Gobyo-yama Kofun (誉田御廟山古墳) is the tomb of Emperor Ojin.[1][2][3] It is the second largest tomb in japan.[4]
It is part of Furuichi Kofun Cluster
Konda Hachimangū is located near it. According to shrine tradition, people built it in the 20th year of Emperor Kinmei (559 CE). They hoped that by building it the god Hachiman would restore the kingdom of Mimana.
At first the shrine was just a mausoleum in front of the tomb. But it became a major shrine and people made many other shrines.[5] Many people built other shrines for Ojin in other places and they became Hachiman shrines.[5] However other people say Kaijin Shrine is the oldest Hachiman shrine.[6]: 97–99
The name Gobyo comes from the honorific particle 御 (mi-, on-, o-, go-) and byo shrine.
