Jewish High Priest

The Jewish High Priest

The Jewish High Priest used to be the leader of Judaism. He led worship at the Temple in Jerusalem. Aaron was the first high priest.

The high priests started in biblical times, but when the Second Temple was destroyed there were no more high priests.

Present day

  • The Samaritans follow a High Priest whose lineage goes back to Moses brother Aaron the first Jewish High Priest
  • In Jerusalem is "Third Temple Institute" whose mission is to prepare the Jewish People and the world of the Third Temple which will take the place of the first two destroyed Jewish Temple. Even the Anti-Zionist Toldos Aharon chassidic movement has established a specialized study program for Jewish priests (kohanim) to prepare for Temple service.[1]
