Iota Carinae (ι Car) is a star in the southern constellation of Carina. Its official name is Aspidiske. The constellation Carina is known as "The Keel". It is one of the brightest stars, with an apparent magnitude of 2.21, meaning it can easily be seen with the naked eye.[1]
Aspidiske is a supergiant star. It has a white or yellow-white color because of its hot surface temperature. It gives off thousands of times of more light energy.[1] It has a solar radius of about 46 to 50 times.[2] This star is located at 770 light-years away from our Solar System.
