By the 1970s, the CIA saw Ansary to be one of the seventeen members of "the Shah's Inner Circle" and he was one of the Shah's top two choices to become Prime Minister.[1]

In November 1977, Ansary also became the director of the National Iranian Oil Company, but resigned one year later and moved to the United States.[2]

He was on the National Finance Committee of the Bush re-election campaign and was a trustee of the George W. Bush Presidential Library.[4] In 2015, Ansary and his wife donated $2 million to a Super PAC supporting the presidential candidacy of Jeb Bush.[5] He donated $2 million to President Donald Trump's first inauguration.[6]
