Ensign (flag)

The New Zealand ensign on the stern (back) of Hikitia, 2014

The ensign is the main flag on a ship. It is on the stern (back) of the ship and is normally always on the ship.[1] The jack is on the bow (front) of the ship, but it is not always there. The flag should show what country the ship is from.
