The Montubio bully foam frog, rana túngara montubia, or sapito bullanguero de Montubio (Engystomops montubio) is a frog. It lives in Ecuador.[2][3][1]
Body
The adult male frog is 17.8–22.8 mm long from nose to rear end and the adult female frog is 17.65–19.71 mm. Its upper lip is white in color. The skin of the frog's back is light brown in color with darker marks on the sides. The belly is lighter with some brown color. The iris of the eye is bronze in color. Sometimes there is a dark brown like behind each eye.[3]
Name
Scientists named the frog for the Montubio, a group of people who live in some of the same places as the frog.[3]
Home
This frog lives in forests that are not far from the ocean and in scrubby places. People also see them in places that people have made, for example places where animals eat grass. Scientists have seen it between 0 and 1,115 m (0 and 3,658 ft) above sea level.[2].[1]
Scientists have seen the frogs in protected places: Parque Nacional Machalilla and Refugio de Vida Silvestre Isla Corazón y Fragatas.[1]
Young
These frogs have young in pools of water near streams. Scientists think the young hatch out of the eggs as tadpoles, not small froglets.[1]
Danger
Scientists from the IUCN say this frog is not in danger of dying out.[1]
