“Crockett’s Theme” is an instrumental song by Jan Hammer for the NBC television series Miami Vice. The name “Crockett” comes from the character James “Sonny” Crockett, played by Don Johnson.
The first version of the song appeared in the episode “Calderone’s Return: Part 1 – The Hit List”, which aired on October 19, 1984. Other versions were used in later episodes. The first commercial release was on the album Miami Vice II in 1986. A slightly different version was released as a single in 1987. It also appeared on Escape from Television.
