Clifton Park Museum is a local history museum in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. It is inside Clifton House, a large Georgian building next to Clifton Park.[1] The museum shows the history of the town and the surrounding area.
History
Clifton House was built in the 1780s as a private home for the Walker family, who were important industrialists in Rotherham.[2] The house and grounds were bought by Rotherham Corporation in the late 19th century. The museum first opened to the public in 1893.
The building was restored and modernised in the early 2000s, and the museum reopened in 2005 after major improvements.[3]
