He has also played for the Philadelphia Flyers and Florida Panthers. Outside the NHL, Giroux has played for the Eisbären Berlin of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL).

Career
Before playing in the NHL, Giroux played parts of three seasons with the Gatineau Olympiques of Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He had a successful time with the Olympiques. He was named QMJHL Rookie of the Year, ending his rookie season with 39 goals and 103 points in 69 games.[1] He helped the Olympiques win the President's Cup after they defeated the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies four games to one in the finals.[2] Giroux was very productive during the playoffs, scoring 17 goals and recording 34 assists in 19 games to also break a team record. For his efforts, he was awarded the Guy Lafleur Trophy for being the Most Valuable Player in the QMJHL playoffs.[3]
He was drafted 22nd overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2006 NHL entry draft. On July 23, 2007, he signed a three-year, entry-level contract to join the Flyers.[4] On February 19, 2008, Giroux made his NHL debut in a 3–2 shootout loss against the Ottawa Senators.[5] He was then sent down to play for their AHL-affiliate Philadelphia Phantoms. On December 30, the Flyers called him back up and he recorded his first NHL point, assisting on a Jeff Carter goal in a 3–2 win over the Vancouver Canucks.[6] On January 27, 2009, Giroux scored his first career NHL goal against Tomáš Vokoun in a 3–2 loss to the Florida Panthers.[7] He helped the Flyers during the playoffs. They defeated the New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, and Montreal Canadiens. They were eventually defeated by the Chicago Blackhawks four games to two in the Finals.[8] On November 8, 2010, Giroux signed a three-year, $11.25 million contract to stay with the Flyers.[9] On January 11, 2011, Giroux was named to his first NHL All-Star Game roster.[10] Giroux led the NHL in point-scoring for most of that season.[11] On June 20, 2012, EA Sports announced Giroux as their cover athlete for NHL 13.[12]
After the NHL decided to lockout the season, Giroux signed a contract to play for the Eisbären Berlin of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL).[13] He only played 9 games with the team, scoring 4 goals and recording 15 assists. His season was cut short after he suffered an injury and had to be sent back to North America to heal.[14] On January 15, 2013, the Flyers named Giroux as their next captain.[15] On July 5, 2013, Giroux signed an eight-year, $66.2 million contract to stay with the Flyers.[16] On March 17, 2022, Giroux played in his 1,000th NHL game defeating the Nashville Predators 5–4.[17]
On March 19, 2022, the Flyers traded Giroux along with a 2024 fifth-round pick, Connor Bunnaman, and German Rubtsov to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Owen Tippett, a 2024 first-round draft pick, and a 2023 third-round pick.[18]
On July 13, 2022, Giroux signed a three-year, $19.5 million contract to join the Ottawa Senators.[19] On September 19, the Senators announced Giroux as an alternate captain for the team.[20]
On April 10, 2023, Giroux recorded his 1,000th career NHL point, assisting on a Tim Stützle goal and also scoring two goals in a 3–2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes.[21]
