Plot
Roger Thursby is a newly qualified lawyer who begins his training at a busy London law office. Though he is inexperienced, he is quickly forced to argue cases in front of difficult judges, including the grumpy Judge Ryman, who dislikes Roger because of a bad game of golf they played together. Roger initially struggles and even loses a simple divorce case, but he slowly gains confidence and skill. He eventually finds success by winning a difficult fraud trial and a local court case in his hometown after another lawyer loses his wig. While Roger loses his love interest, Sally, to another man, the story ends on a hopeful note as he becomes a successful barrister and meets new people.
