Brooklyn Park Library is a public library in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. The current building opened in June 2016. It was a replacement to the previous building that opened in 1976. Before 1976, the area was served by a bookmobile.
History
The first library building was made in 1976. The area was served by a bookmobile before 1976. The building was renovated in 1999.
In November 2013, a new library was approved by the Hennepin County Library board.[1] The current building opened in 2016. It was more than two times larger than the old building.
There were surveys[2] and meetings[3] for community input on the library. The building costed $23.5 million to build.[4] The building includes a children's zone, a computer lab, and several reading lounges.[5] The children's area was designed by the Minnesota Children's Museum.[6]
Community
The library supports 42 different languages that are spoken in the city. These include Spanish, Hmong, and Vietnamese.[7]
The library has many programs, including tutors and storytimes. There is also a public meeting room.
