Breakbeat hardcore
Breakbeat hardcore (or just hardcore, hardcore rave or oldskool hardcore) was an early 90s offshoot of the Acid House scene of late 80s Britain. It added a hip-hop influence with the addition of breakbeats, and increased the tempo.
The scene seemed to revolve around the M25 (an orbital motorway surrounding London), and its audience was mainly lower middle-class (upper working-class?) suburban teenagers who had access to cars.
Around 94, the scene fragmented, and the music forked off into Jungle (heavy Black influence) and Drum and Bass.
Important artists include Acen, Micky Finn, Nicky Blackmarket, Two Bad Mice.
