A presidential election was set to be held on 20 September 2015 to elect the next president of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan for a new 3-year term. Incumbent president Shinzo Abe was running for re-election.
Since no other candidates besides Abe received enough nominations to be a candidate, Abe was re-elected on 8 September 2015 without a vote.[1]
Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy Seiko Noda wanted to run, but did not have enough support to qualify as a candidate.
