ŠKF Sereď (full name: Športový Klub Futbalu Sereď) is a football club based in Sereď, Slovakia. It was founded as Sereďský športový klub in 1914. The club won the Slovak 2. Liga in 2017–18, being promoted to the Slovak First Football League.
History
Sereď played the 2017–18 season in the 2. Liga of the Slovak league system. They placed first in the competition and won promotion to play in the 2018–19 Slovak Super Liga season. In the 2021–22 season, Sereď finished as the 5th team, but were not allowed a license for the next season, because the club did not have a proper a stadium.[1] Even though they had won the 3. Liga in the 2024–25 season, Sereď would have to be relegated to the 4. League because of financial problems.[2]
Stadium
Sereď plays their home games at the Štadión Sereď. The stadium was originally constructed and opened in 1962.[3][4] In the 2018–19 season, Sereď was promoted to the Slovak First Football League, but would not be allowed to play in the stadium. They would have to play their home matches in several neighboring cities, Myjava, Nitra, Trnava and Zlaté Moravce.[5][6] In June 2025, the city of Sereď received around one million euros from the Sports Support Fund for the renovation of the Štadión Sereď.[6][7][8] Since the total costs of its reconstruction were estimated at 2.5 million euros, further fundraising was needed.[6][7] In December 2025, it was announced that the reconstruction of the stadium would be cancelled and postponed.[5][9][10]
